I would love to give Kapit Bahay 5 stars. We have been coming here since the early mid-2000s until we moved to Inland Empire. Our last visit this weekend, however, gripped my usual expectations of comforting satisfaction. We got the Corned Beef, Kare², Tinola, and different brands of Hopia. What surprised me was the pugnacious taste of the Corned Beef - it's at the edge of spoilage. Maybe I was just being over reactive so I kept quiet. The Kare-Kare's meat (tripe) were not soft. It was not sufficiently simmered that it could be easily chewed and swallowed, but the sauce and vegies are one thumb up. I hope they simmer the meat longer because this savory dish would end up in the trash. The Chicken Tinola is good. One complain is: there is only 3 very small bite-size pieces in it that the ala carte price would seem too expensive. I wish Kapit Bahay can make the adjustments, bring back the quality.

I stopped here and ordered the Pan de ube, Chicken tinola soup, Ginataang Bilo Bilo, Apritada, Steamed Rice, and Pork adobo. The tinola was a little spicy. Had a real kick to it. The apritada was good and tender - a bit salty but still good with the carrots and potatoes. The Ginataang was such a nice, little dessert!
